About the fair
Step into a marketplace powered by creativity, courage, and innovation!

The Children’s Business Fair is a one-day experience where young heroes launch their very own businesses, from idea to income. Each "Kidpreneur" will:

  • Dream up a business idea
  • Create a product or service
  • Build a brand and marketing strategy
  • Open for real customers in a live marketplace

This is more than a fair—it’s a chance for children ages 6-12 to take bold risks, solve real problems, and experience the thrill of entrepreneurship firsthand.

Made possible by Acton Academy, Spartan Academy, and the generous support of our community, we believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes who shape the future.

Entrepreneurs come in many forms. They might be innovators like Steve Jobs, creators like Sara Blakely, neighborhood bakers, lawn care providers, artists selling handmade goods, or young founders turning simple ideas into something meaningful.

They are people who notice problems, take initiative, create value, and serve others.

This fair is where that journey begins—for every child ready to try, create, and grow!

Frequently asked questions

What is the Acton Children's Business Fair?
The Acton Children's Business Fair inspires children to discover their inner entrepreneur. The largest entrepreneurship event for children in North America, this one-day market gives children the opportunity to showcase their very own businesses.

How many businesses will you accept?
We will accept up to 36 businesses. Spots are limited, so early applications are encouraged!

How do I apply? Can I apply as part of a group?
Applications must be submitted online—one application per business.
  • A $10 booth fee (cash) will be collected at check-in
  • Teams of up to 3 children are welcome
  • Team businesses should submit one application including all participants

Collaboration is encouraged—but every child should play an active role!

What if someone else has the same business idea?
Two cupcake stands? No problem!
Real entrepreneurs face competition every day. We believe in letting the market decide. If a similar idea already exists, we’ll let you know—so your child can choose to differentiate, improve, or pivot. Innovation happens when ideas collide!

How will the fair be set up?
The fair will be a mix of indoor and outdoor booths.
Each business will receive:
  • A 6-foot table OR half of a shared 10-foot table
  • 2 chairs provided per business
  • A tablecloth (optional to bring your own for branding!)

This is your Kidpreneur's storefront, feel free to make it stand out!

Will electricity be available?
We are able to provide electricity to a few select booths. Advanced notice needed!

What are the rules?
This event is designed to give children the experience of selling a product or service.

Parents of younger children may sit in the booth, but the children should be responsible for set up, customer interaction, and sales.

Parents may help their child fill out the application, but we expect the children to do as much as possible by themselves.

How did the Acton Children's Business Fair get started?
Jeff and Laura Sandefer and a few other families wanted to spark a sense of wonder and entrepreneurship in their children so they created the first Acton Children's Business Fair in Austin, Texas, in 2007. That year, there were seven entrepreneurs and around 25 attendees. Now, there are over 115 entrepreneurs and 1,500 attendees at the Acton Children's Business Fair in Austin.
