What happens when a child is given an idea, a little encouragement, and the opportunity to turn it into something real?
The Chera the Love Children's Business Fair is a one-day marketplace where young entrepreneurs create a business from the ground up. Kids develop a product or service, build a brand, set their prices, and experience what it's like to launch a real business serving real customers.
Whether they sell handmade crafts, baked goods, artwork, inventions, games, or something completely original, every participant walks away having learned creativity, problem-solving, responsibility, and confidence in ways no classroom can fully replicate.
Hosted at The Well in Pike Road on November 14, this event is part of the internationally recognized Acton Children's Business Fair movement, which exists to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs by giving them the opportunity to learn through experience.
Why "Chera the Love"?
This fair carries the name of someone who deeply believed in children.
Before her passing in January 2026, Chera Doty had begun the work of bringing an Acton Children's Business Fair to Pike Road. She believed our community needed a place where kids could dream big, take healthy risks, discover their gifts, and experience the joy of creating something of their own.
Naming this event the Chera the Love Children's Business Fair isn't simply about remembering her, it's about continuing her work. Every child who builds a business, every family who encourages them, every customer who visits a booth, and every lesson learned becomes part of the legacy she hoped to leave for this community.
The greatest way we can honor Chera isn't by talking about her vision. It's by helping children live it.
We can't wait to see what the young entrepreneurs of Pike Road create!

Frequently asked questions
The Acton Children's Business Fair inspires children to discover their inner entrepreneur. The largest entrepreneurship event for children in North America, this one-day market gives children the opportunity to showcase their very own businesses.
Application must be submitted online. Please submit one application for each business. Children working as a group should submit one application that includes each child's information. No more than 3 participants per business.
Two cupcake businesses? Not a problem. In general, we will let market forces play out, though we will let later entries know if another applicant has a similar idea so the later entrant can decide what to do.
The fair will be a tented outdoor event with booths. Each business will be given a booth with an 8-foot table (to share with one other business), full-cover tenting, and 1-2 chairs. Table cloths will not be provided.
This event is designed to give children the experience of selling a product or service.
Parents of younger children may sit in the booth, but the children should be responsible for set up, customer interaction, and sales.
Parents may help their child fill out the application, but we expect the children to do as much as possible by themselves.
Jeff and Laura Sandefer and a few other families wanted to spark a sense of wonder and entrepreneurship in their children so they created the first Acton Children's Business Fair in Austin, Texas, in 2007. That year, there were seven entrepreneurs and around 25 attendees. Now, there are over 115 entrepreneurs and 1,500 attendees at the Acton Children's Business Fair in Austin.
