What is the Children’s Business Fair Poulsbo & Founders Fair Poulsbo?
The Children’s Business Fair & Founders Fair is a one-day marketplace designed to help young people experience what it feels like to start and run a real business.
Young entrepreneurs develop a brand, create a product or service, think through how they will market it, and then open their booth to real customers at the fair.
The goal is simple: give kids the opportunity to learn entrepreneurship by actually doing it. They gain confidence, creativity, problem-solving skills, and the experience of turning an idea into something real.
This event is hosted through the Force 10 Community Foundation and presented by Force 10 Property Group, with the support of our volunteers, donors, and community members who believe in encouraging the next generation of builders and innovators.
How many businesses will be accepted?
We will accept up to 60 youths running businesses for the fair. It is ok to have an underaged tag with your child but parental supervision at all times is a must.
Spots are limited to ensure every young entrepreneur has a great experience and enough space to showcase their work.
How do I apply? Can I apply as part of a group?
Applications must be submitted online.
Each children's business should submit one application. If children are working together as a team, they should submit one application that includes each participant’s information. The applications will be reviewed and notification will be sent back to you upon acceptance.
To keep the experience focused and manageable, each business may have up to three young entrepreneurs.
What if someone else has the same business idea?
That’s completely okay.
In the real world, many businesses offer similar products. Part of entrepreneurship is learning how to stand out through creativity, branding, quality, and customer experience.
If two entrepreneurs want to sell cupcakes, for example, we’ll let the marketplace decide. Friendly competition is part of the learning experience.
How will the fair be set up?
The fair will be indoors and shared tables with numbers. You will be given a table number at check in where you can set-up
Each business will receive:
• 1 chair per Kidpreneur. More as available or by request.
• (Until further notice) Bring your table no larger than 6’ - 8’ A (A table may be shared with one other business or one business with 2-3 Kidpreneurs)
Participants should plan to bring anything they need to decorate their booth or display their products. Tablecloths will not be provided. Please leave no trace. Pack out what you pack in.
Will electricity be available?
Unfortunately, electricity will not be available at the booths.
Businesses should plan accordingly and design their booths and products to operate without power.
What are the rules?
This event is designed so children experience the process of running a business themselves.
• Young entrepreneurs should be responsible for setting up their booth
• Children should interact with customers and handle sales
• Parents may sit with younger children for support, but the business should be run by the kids
• Parents may help with the application process, but we encourage children to do as much of the work as possible
The goal is to help young founders experience the confidence and learning that comes from doing it themselves.
Where did the Children’s Business Fair idea come from?
This idea grew from a simple belief: that children learn best when they are given the chance to try something real in their own framework. The concept is to create a marketplace where kids can imagine an idea, build a product or service, and share it with real customers. What starts as a small booth and a simple idea can become a powerful experience—one that teaches creativity, confidence, and the fundamentals of entrepreneurship.
Today, these fairs help young entrepreneurs experience the excitement of turning ideas into real businesses—often for the very first time.

She holds a Federal Aviation Administration Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic certification and a U.S. Coast Guard 50-Ton Captain’s License, experiences that taught her the value of problem-solving, resilience, and learning by doing. Those same principles are at the heart of the Children’s Business Fair, where young founders get to build a product, create a brand, and sell to real customers.
As a parent and grandparent, Joey believes kids should have opportunities to try ideas, build something of their own, and experience what it feels like to run a real business. That belief led her to help bring the Children’s Business Fair and Founders Fair to the community. The event is hosted through the Force 10 Community Foundation and presented by Force 10 Property Group, reflecting her commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs and strengthening the next generation of business leaders.
Joey’s hope is simple: that every young entrepreneur who participates discovers their creativity has value, their ideas matter, and they have the courage to build something amazing—because every great entrepreneur starts somewhere. Sometimes it starts with a kid, an idea, and a booth at a fair.
