Participate in the opportunity for children to launch their very own startup business!

Kids develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy, and then open for customers at our one-day marketplace.

We will host multiple booths at our first ever Entrepreneur Fair at the Marblehead Charter Community Public School in Marblehead, MA from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.

This event is sponsored by Acton Academy, the Acton School of Business, and the generous support of our donors and volunteers.  We all believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation.

In addition, thank you to our local sponsor Weaver Orthodontics for your sponsorship contribution to MCCPS.

Whether an entrepreneur is famous like Elon Musk or Oprah Winfrey or they are one of the thousands of unsung business owners across this country, these are the people who make sacrifices to innovate, create jobs and serve their communities.

Frequently asked questions

How many businesses will you accept?

We will accept between 30 and 50 businesses.

Where should I begin?

Start with our resources page. Read inspiring stories about other young entrepreneurs. You can also print out this PDF document on how to start a business:(https://docs.google.com/document/d/1B84tBZsPoeTF2VSAk5VqsPCRSG79KXu_Qksu-MTJ9Vc/edit?usp=sharing)

Once you have submitted an application and it has been approved, begin working on creating enough products to sell for the event.

How do I apply? Can I apply as part of a group?

Application must be submitted through email. There is a $20 fee per booth.  Please pay via PayPal on the website or please mail or drop off a check to MCCPS at 17 Lime Street, Marblehead, Ma. 01945.

Please submit one application for each business. Children working as a group should submit one application that includes each child’s information. No more than 4 participants per business. Applications must be submitted on the website by April 14th, 2023.  If you have any questions, you can email Jessica at Jgelb@marbleheadcharter.com.  Here is the link to the application: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1I92ksi8wCn2FVBaUSO_3Btvq2yNHsjH4YdxuoMSTh_w/edit?usp=sharing

What is on the application?

The application asks kids to think through some simple, but important elements of their business.

What if someone else has the same business idea?

Two cupcake businesses? Not a problem. In general, we will let market forces play out, though we will let later entries know if another applicant has a similar idea so the later entrant can decide what to do.

How will the fair be set up?

The fair will be set up in the gym and community room at the Marblehead Charter Community Public School so we won't need to worry about New England weather!

Will electricity be available?

Limited spots will be available for electricity so make sure to sign up fast if your vending will need an electrical hook up.

What are the rules?

Each should be an original business idea and not to be copied or stolen from other vendors. Each item shall be fairly priced and created using multiple resources and original designs created by you! Vendors should be 6 years old up to 15 years old and vendors under the age of 9 should have parental supervision at all times. Students must write a short paragraph or two about their business and how it got started.

How did the Acton Children’s Business Fair get started?

Jeff and Laura Sandefer and a few other families wanted to spark a sense of wonder and entrepreneurship in their children so they created the first Acton Children’s Business Fair in Austin, Texas, in 2007. That year, there were seven entrepreneurs and around 25 attendees. Now, there are over 115 entrepreneurs and 1,500 attendees at the Acton Children's Business Fair in Austin.
