About the fair
🌊 Step Into the Adventure of Entrepreneurship!

At the Children’s Business Fair, young heroes don’t just imagine a business, they build one.

From shaping a brand to designing a product or service, crafting a marketing plan, & welcoming their very first customers, learners take the leap into what it means to create, serve, & lead.

This marketplace is made possible through Acton Academy of 30a & the generosity of our donors & volunteers, each of us united in the belief that principled entrepreneurs are true heroes.

Whether it’s visionaries like Steve Jobs, Sara Blakely, or the countless unsung small business owners across our communities, entrepreneurs are the ones who dare to innovate, take risks, create jobs, & bring value to the world. At Acton Academy of 30a, we believe the next generation is ready to join them.

Frequently asked questions

✨ What is the Acton Children’s Business Fair?
The Acton Children’s Business Fair is the largest entrepreneurship event for children in North America. This one-day marketplace invites young heroes to step into the shoes of an entrepreneur, designing a brand, creating a product or service, & opening their very own business for the community.

✨ How many businesses will be accepted?
We have not needed to cap our entries & should we run into this issue, we will operate from a first come, first serve basis, & communicate to with ample notice.

✨ How do I apply? Can I apply as part of a group?
Applications must be submitted online. Please submit one application per business.
If you’re applying as a group (up to 3 participants per business), include each child’s information on the same application.

✨ What if someone else has the same idea?
No problem! If two entrepreneurs dream up cupcake businesses, we’ll let both enter. Market forces will decide the rest. (If you apply later & a similar idea is already registered, we’ll let you know so you can choose to adjust or keep your idea as-is.)

✨ How will the fair be set up?
The fair is an outdoor event with booths. Each business is responsible for their table, chairs, & business materials. While we uphold the standard of learners fully leading their business creation & money exchange. Support is welcome for sourcing a table & chairs.

✨ Will electricity be available?
Yes, there will be extension cables available, so long as they are requested ahead of time.

✨ What are the rules?
This fair is designed to give children the real experience of running a business.

  • Children should handle set-up, customer interaction, & sales.
  • Parents of younger children may sit nearby for support, but the business belongs to the children.
  • Parents may help complete the application, but we encourage children to do as much as possible themselves.

✨ How did the Acton Children’s Business Fair begin?
In 2007, Jeff and Laura Sandefer, along with a few families in Austin, Texas, launched the very first fair to spark curiosity & entrepreneurial spirit in their children. That first event hosted just 7 entrepreneurs & 25 attendees. Today, the Austin fair welcomes over 115 entrepreneurs & 1,500 attendees & the movement has spread to hundreds of cities around the world, including Inlet Beach, FL.
