About the fair
Support the next generation of young entrepreneurs at the third annual Hartland Children’s Business Fair at Nixon Park in Hartland.

This inspiring community event gives children ages 6–14 the opportunity to launch their very own business by creating a product or service, developing a brand, marketing their ideas, and selling to real customers during a one-day marketplace experience.

Families, friends, and community members are encouraged to attend and shop from dozens of talented young business owners while celebrating their creativity, confidence, and hard work. Guests can also enjoy free live music from the Hartland Community Band and refreshments from the Nixon Park Biergarten while exploring the fair.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 winners in two judged categories:
• Most Creative Business Concept
• Best Booth Presentation & Branding

Booth sign-ups are now open for children ages 6–14 who are interested in participating as vendors. Don’t miss the opportunity to encourage and support these young entrepreneurs as they bring their ideas to life.

Frequently asked questions

How many businesses will you accept?
We will accept up to 20 businesses.

How much does it cost?
There is a $20 fee for each booth.

What ages are eligible to participate?
Participants can be ages 6 - 14

How do I apply? Can I apply as part of a group?
Application must be submitted online. Please submit one application for each business. Children working as a group should submit one application that includes each child's information. No more than 3 participants per business.

What if someone else has the same business idea?
Two cupcake businesses? Not a problem. In general, we will let market forces play out, though we will let later entries know if another applicant has a similar idea so the later entrant can decide what to do.

How will the fair be set up?
The fair will be a tented outdoor event with booths. Each business will need to supply their own 6-foot table, full-cover tenting, and 1-2 chairs. Tablecloths will not be provided. We are not able to accommodate businesses requiring electricity.

Will electricity be available?
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide electricity to the booths.

How does judging work?
Participants will be evaluated by a panel of community judges who will visit each booth during the event. Judges will speak with the young entrepreneurs about their business ideas, products/services, branding, and overall presentation.

What categories will be judged for the cash prizes?
Most Creative Business Concept — Awarded to the participant with the most original, innovative, or unique business idea.
Best Booth Presentation & Branding — Recognizes outstanding booth design, signage, packaging, and overall professionalism in presentation.

What are judges looking for?
Judges will consider creativity, originality, effort, booth presentation, branding, communication skills, and overall business execution. The goal is to encourage and celebrate entrepreneurship, creativity, and confidence in every participant.

When will winners be announced?
Winners will be announced near the end of the event following the completion of judging.

What are the rules?
This event is designed to give children the experience of selling a product or service.

Parents of younger children may sit in the booth, but the children should be responsible for set up, customer interaction, and sales.

Parents may help their child fill out the application, but we expect the children to do as much as possible by themselves.
