About the fair
Business deals are made on the Golf Course!

Front & Back 9 Junior Golf Academy is hosting its annual Fundraising Golf Classic that will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Lochmere Golf Club located at 2511 Kildaire Farm Road Cary, NC. 27511.

Our Annual Golf Classic is innovative and different in that Youth Entrepreneurs/Children's Businesses will be featured at the Tee Box at each hole so they can pitch and sell their products to golfers, spectators, and other event participants.

Our event is sponsored by Acton Academy and the generous support of our donors and volunteers.  We all believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation.

Front & Back 9 Junior Golf Academy is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit community organization serving youth ages six through 16 years old in the Southeast Raleigh, N.C. region and the surrounding area. We are innovative and different from other athletic programs in that we promote the game of golf and entrepreneurship by hosting a Children’s Business Fair during our annual fundraising golf tournament.  Our program meets a need for many parents looking to expose their youth to non-contact sports and leadership as a golfer and/or entrepreneur.

The mission of Front & Back 9 Junior Golf Academy is to offer students the opportunity to learn the game of golf and hence expose them to core technical, mental, strategic and physical values that will build character producing well rounded and balanced individuals. Front & Back 9 students will be encouraged to actively give back to the community through their involvement with various service projects.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Front & Back 9 Junior Golf Academy Children’s Business Fair?

The Front & Back 9 Junior Golf Academy Children’s Business Fair inspires children to discover their inner entrepreneur.  This one-day market gives children the opportunity to showcase their very own businesses.

How do I apply? Can I apply as part of a group?

Application must be submitted online. Please submit one application for each business. Children working as a group should submit one application that includes each child’s information. No more than 3 participants per business.

Is there a cost to participate?

There is no cost for participation. We are a non-profit (501c3) organization and welcome donations.  You will have an opportunity to donate during the application process but feel free to donate via our website at www.frontback9.com.

What is on the application?

The application asks kids to think through some simple, but important elements of their business:

  • What product or service do you plan to sell?
  • What price will you charge for each product/service? How much will each product/service cost you?
  • How will you advertise/market your business before the fair?
  • At the end of the fair, how will you determine if your business was a success?

What if someone else has the same business idea?

Two cupcake businesses? Not a problem. In general, we will let market forces play out, though we will let later entries know if another applicant has a similar idea so the later entrant can decide what to do.

How will the fair be set up?

1. The fair will be an outdoor event with tables and/or booths.
2. Each business is responsible for bringing their own table, chairs, supplies and other booth decor.
3. Each business will be given space for an 8-foot table and 1-2 chairs at the tee box of a hole on the golf course where they have the opportunity to pitch and sell their products to the golfers and other event participants.

Will electricity be available?

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide electricity to the booths.

What are the rules?

This event is designed to give children the experience of selling a product or service.

Parents of younger children may sit in the booth, but the children should be responsible for set up, customer interaction, and sales.

Parents may help their child fill out the application, but we expect the children to do as much as possible by themselves.
