About the fair
Join us for this year's Children's Business Fair in Greer, South Carolina! The CBF is an opportunity for children to launch their very own start-up or expand their already established business.

Kids develop a brand, create a product or service, build a marketing strategy, and then welcome customers at our one-day marketplace on Saturday, October 11 from 10am - 2pm. From there, the sky is the limit for these young entrepreneurs.

Important Details:

Applications (ages 6-17) will be accepted online. THERE ARE ONLY 75 SPOTS AVAILABLE. To cover costs for the event, there is a NON-REFUNDABLE BOOTH REGISTRATION FEE of $15 once your application is approved. (The Registration Fee helps to cover costs of advertising for the event. Approved applicants will receive, by e-mail, a digital flier to be used for advertising the CBF. For an additional $2, approved applicants can request to receive a custom-made marketing flyer specific to their business. All details will be sent to applicants once their application is approved.)

Once you submit your booth application, you will be notified of the status of your application within 72 hours. Approved applicants will then receive a link to an additional form that must be completed along with payment. SLOTS ARE NOT SECURED UNTIL PAYMENT IS MADE.

Each business will be given a 10 x 10 booth space. This is an outdoor event, so tents are needed. EACH BUSINESS MUST PROVIDE EVERYTHING NEEDED: DISPLAY TABLE, CHAIRS, TENT, ETC.

Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate businesses requiring electricity.

Please use the form in the contact tab to reach out to us with any questions or email us at: greercbf@gmail.com

This event is sponsored by Acton Academy, the Acton School of Business, and the generous support of our donors and volunteers.  We believe that principled entrepreneurs are heroes and role models for the next generation. Whether they are famous or one of the thousands of unsung business owners across this country, entrepreneurs are the ones who make sacrifices to innovate, create jobs and serve their communities.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Acton Children’s Business Fair?

The Acton Children’s Business Fair inspires children to discover their inner entrepreneur. As the largest entrepreneurship event for kids in North America, this one-day market gives children the opportunity to showcase their very own businesses.

How do I apply? Can I apply as part of a group?

Applications must be submitted online. Please submit one application per business. Children working as a group should submit only one application, and should include the name and age (between 7-17) for each participant. No more than 3 participants per business, please.

What is on the application?

The application asks kids to think through some simple, but important elements of their business:

  • What product or service do you plan to sell?
  • What price will you charge for each product/service? How much will each product/service cost you?
  • How will you pay for your startup costs? If someone is helping you with your startup costs, how will you pay that person back?
  • How will you advertise/market your business before the fair?
  • At the end of the fair, how will you determine if your business was a success?

What if someone else has the same business idea?

Two cupcake businesses? Not a problem. In general, we will let market forces play out, though we will let later entries know if another applicant has an idea too similar to another business so the later entrant can decide what to do. We would encourage duplicate businesses to think strategically & creatively.  What is different about what you're offering when compared to everyone else? How can you add a little bit of YOU to your product or business? Why would someone choose your business/product over another similar business?

Please Note: While we welcome a diverse range of businesses and vendors, we strive to maintain a balanced variety of offerings for the benefit of all participants and attendees. If there is an excessive number of similar businesses or vendors, we reserve the right to limit participation. Vendors will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis, and we generally allow up to two vendors offering similar products or services. Your understanding is greatly appreciated as we work to ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for everyone.

How will the fair be set up?

The fair will be an outdoor event. Each business will be given a 10 x 10 booth space. EACH BUSINESS MUST PROVIDE EVERYTHING NEEDED: DISPLAY TABLE, CANOPY/TENT, CHAIRS, ETC.

Will electricity be available?

Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate businesses requiring electricity.

Will bathrooms be available?

There will be bathrooms or porta potties on the premises.

What payment types will be accepted?

Many vendors do have the capability to use Venmo, square pay, etc. However, it is advised that business owners come prepared with some cash in order to provide change to customers.

What are the expectations for parents of vendors?

This event is designed to give children the experience of selling a product or service. Parents may sit in the booth, but we ask that children be responsible for set up, customer interaction, and sales.

Parents may help their child fill out the application, but we expect the children to do as much as possible by themselves. Let your children own their business and consequently - own their success or failure. A lot can be learned either way.

How did the Acton Children’s Business Fair get started?

Jeff & Laura Sandefer and a few other families wanted to spark a sense of wonder and entrepreneurship in their children so they created the first Acton Children’s Business Fair in Austin, Texas, in 2007. That year, there were seven entrepreneurs and around 25 attendees. Now, there are over 115 entrepreneurs and 1,500 attendees at the Acton Children's Business Fair in Austin.
