Frequently asked questions
The Acton Children’s Business Fair is the largest entrepreneurship event for children in North America. This one-day marketplace invites young heroes to step into the shoes of an entrepreneur, designing a brand, creating a product or service, & opening their very own business for the community.
We have not needed to cap our entries & should we run into this issue, we will operate from a first come, first serve basis, & communicate to with ample notice.
Applications must be submitted online. Please submit one application per business.
If you’re applying as a group (up to 3 participants per business), include each child’s information on the same application.
No problem! If two entrepreneurs dream up cupcake businesses, we’ll let both enter. Market forces will decide the rest. (If you apply later & a similar idea is already registered, we’ll let you know so you can choose to adjust or keep your idea as-is.)
The fair is an outdoor event with booths. Each business is responsible for their table, chairs, & business materials. While we uphold the standard of learners fully leading their business creation & money exchange. Support is welcome for sourcing a table & chairs.
Yes, there will be extension cables available, so long as they are requested ahead of time.
This fair is designed to give children the real experience of running a business.
- Children should handle set-up, customer interaction, & sales.
- Parents of younger children may sit nearby for support, but the business belongs to the children.
- Parents may help complete the application, but we encourage children to do as much as possible themselves.
In 2007, Jeff and Laura Sandefer, along with a few families in Austin, Texas, launched the very first fair to spark curiosity & entrepreneurial spirit in their children. That first event hosted just 7 entrepreneurs & 25 attendees. Today, the Austin fair welcomes over 115 entrepreneurs & 1,500 attendees & the movement has spread to hundreds of cities around the world, including Inlet Beach, FL.
