About the fair
🚀 Get ready for an exciting day of entrepreneurship and family fun! Stop by anytime between 11AM to 3PM on Saturday, October 19th at Cary Thomas Brooks Park through Baseball Complex Entrance. Come support nearly 60 child entrepreneurs who will showcase their creativity and business acumen.
🎨 Enjoy FREE face painting, food, and games, and shop unique products crafted by our young talents. It's a day filled with inspiration, entertainment, and endless smiles.
🌟 Encourage your kids to explore their inner entrepreneur, plant the seeds of innovation, and ignite their dreams. This event is not just about today; it's about nurturing the leaders of tomorrow.

Read inspiring stories about other young entrepreneurs and brainstorm ideas of what you could sell at the fair. When applications open, submit your application. Then, buy everything you need and get started!
How do I apply to sell? Can I apply as part of a group?
Application must be submitted online. Please submit one application for each business. Children working as a group should submit one application that includes each child’s information. No more than 3 participants per business.

The application asks kids to think through some simple, but important elements of their business:

- What price will you charge for each product/service? How much will each product/service cost you?
- How will you pay for your startup costs? If someone is helping you with your startup costs, how will you pay that person back?
- How will you advertise/market your business before the fair?
- At the end of the fair, how will you determine if your business was a success?
What if someone else has the same business idea?
Two cupcake businesses? Not a problem. In general, we will let market forces play out, though we will let later entries know if another applicant has a similar idea so the later entrant can decide what to do.

The fair will be a tented outdoor event with booths. Each business will be given a booth with a table, and a shared tent. Tablecloths will not be provided.

Unfortunately, we are not able to provide electricity to the booths.

No worries - if the weather doesn't cooperate, we will postpone the fair to October 20th, 1pm-5pm.

What are the rules?
This event is designed to give children the experience of selling a product or service. Parents of younger children may sit in the booth, but the children should be responsible for set up, customer interaction, and sales. Parents may help their child fill out the application, but we expect the children to do as much as possible by themselves.

How did the Western Wake Children’s Business Fair get started?
A few families in Cary, North Carolina had participated in the Acton Children's Business Fair before and were interested in launching their own fair near where they lived, so they founded the Western Wake Business Fair in October 2023. They are planning to host their second fair in October 2024.
